Riverbend Resource Center Operating at Full Capacity; Focus Remains on Delta and Delta County Residents
Delta, Colorado — The City of Delta announces that the Riverbend Resource Center is currently operating at full capacity due to local demand for services. The Center remains focused on serving individuals and families who reside in Delta and Delta County.
Delta continues to face limited local service infrastructure — including housing availability, behavioral health access, food security resources, and shelter capacity — compared to larger regional communities. The resources available within Delta are already strained meeting local needs.
Riverbend was established to address homelessness and crisis stabilization within Delta. The facility provides coordinated case management and connections to housing, employment, behavioral health services, and navigation to other essential community resources. Riverbend was not designed to operate as a regional hub for homelessness services.
At this time, Riverbend’s staffing levels, facility capacity, and operational funding are aligned with Delta’s community needs. The Center does not have the capacity to absorb demand from outside municipalities.
As service providers in neighboring communities — including Grand Junction and Montrose — navigate their own operational challenges, the City respectfully encourages individuals to seek assistance within their home communities whenever possible. Sustainable solutions to homelessness require locally supported, community-based responses.
Riverbend will continue to:
- Prioritize Delta and Delta County residents in need of stabilization services
- Coordinate with local nonprofit, healthcare, and public safety partners
- Provide case management focused on long-term housing solutions
- Participate in regional discussions regarding coordinated response efforts
The City also reminds the public that Delta’s municipal ordinances, including its camping regulations, remain in effect and are consistently enforced. Individuals are encouraged to seek appropriate services within their home communities and to comply with all local laws.
The City of Delta remains committed to compassionate, responsible, and sustainable solutions that balance community safety with appropriate support services.
